Ironically, backyard BBQs are actually one of your best weapons now, because the two things you need the most are community and fuel, and this achieves both. Get connected. Organize community putlocks. Start book clubs, movie nights, drag shows. Whatever keeps your internal light from going out, and whatever keeps ideas, fury and hope alive. Remember names. Routinely check on each other. Talk about civil rights. Talk about art. Talk about stupid things that don't actually matter. Invite each other over for tea, or for dinner. Make sure they had a decent meal at least once this week. Ask people to help you clean your house, and offer to help cleaning their in return. Make barters. Buy or exchange services with people you want to support. If you can't afford to get in trouble, try to stay under the radar and build community like your life depends on it, because it does.
