Trick one: e-bike (the commute and in-office parking are so much nicer than with a car). Trick two: employer-provided transit pass. Let’s see how this works.

Care free isn’t easy but it’s the most rewarding thing ever. Missing a bus but getting to strike up a conversation and then having a nice bus driver make being 15-20 minutes behind feel alright.

Retired, got my TAP discount card. Love it. Takes a little more time but not stressing about parking, bad drivers, traffic jams makes it worth it. And I get some exercise along the way.
Nice bike , but I hope you have better luck with your Aventon than I did with my Aventon Level. I'm replacing the controller for the third time and the bike has 2100 miles on it and under five years old. I have to pay full bore for the fourth controller, no help from customer service. 😏

Awesome! We have been a one-car LA family since 2003, with a brief break in 2015-2017. Raised two kids that way. We live between two 24-hour bus lines, one of which runs every 6 minutes on weekdays and connects to the subway. Not an accident! We picked our home for transit access.

I got rid of my old pickup decades ago. First, I relied on carsharing every once in a while (e. g., Costco runs). Then I gave up on even that. Of course, I picked a neighborhood that was geo-convenient for this very reason. Glad I did.
