An anecdote that reads as follows Heard a great analogy from a patient recently We were talking about the occasional fragile ego of clinicians and how some pretend that radiologists still have little role in the management of their patients He told me of a career visit from the RAF when he was at school which consisted of a fighter pilot and his navigator The fighter pilot told them of their primacy, their vital role in mission success and so forth The navigator stood up and said that was all rubbish and that without them, there was practically no point setting off, they controlled everything The navigator was then asked the role of the fighter pilot. He thought for a second and said “put it this way. Part of my job is to pass them bananas”
