Ian Scott @polpo.org · Feb 21 Birders! Ornithologists! How the heck do you pronounce “picoides” as in the genus of woodpeckers? Pico-ides? Pico-e-des? Peek-oids? I can’t seem to find a definitive guide or even a video of a human saying it.

I'm neither of those but I had to learn Latin for like 4 years, and based on that my guess would be "pee-ko-ee-days", and GTrans seems to agree: translate.google.com?sl=la&tl=en&...
