The twin towers nearing the end of construction with the sun shining through them. You can see the core elevator shafts and stairwells through the skeleton of the structure. I have been to the memorial. The gravity mainly comes from the realization that many of the changes to ideas that occurred, changes that have swept up many Americans, were not a consequence of the destruction of physical things and the loss of life but were instead the result of self-inflicted wounds of failing to move on. The dot com bubble crashed around the same time, and there was culturally concurrent shift in tone. Too many regarded themselves as having become unfortunate. A pallor descended over people. And yet in a frame of mind of our own choosing it does not exist and did not happen at all. There was no change in tone. Our mission today is the same as it was at the time.

The "forest" arcology, a concept I was introduced to by Sim City 2000, which I played on a 386 (sometimes 486) and installed off of 3.5in floppy disks. Sim City 2000 came to me as a Christmas present, probably resulting from how much I liked the original Sim City on PC and SNES? It wouldn't be shocking to learn that people who played world-building sims later go on to want to fix thing with a very holistic mindset. It's a utopian's error to plan as if anyone can control society, but that doesn't mean there aren't tremendous opportunities that can only be seen by considering things in a very lateral sense, across society rather than limited to what is within arm's reach. To execute, we have to leave the utopian. A Massive Attack lyric comes to mind, something about feet on the ground but head in the clouds.
