The image above is from the Staffordshire Hoard. Although my interest in hinges started with Sutton Hoo, and the Great Gold Buckle, it was looking at the Staffs Hoard catalogue that made me wonder why there are so few hinges within it. There are 4, and they are simple high-status buckles.
