It is a screenshot of the Soviet Union's 1991 production of Lord of the Rings. The image features one person with incredibly heavy makeup. Today we'll talk about the Hobbits. We'll discover some details about their life and their ways.

Hobbits are an unobtrusive but very ancient people. They love peace and quietness, good tilled earth and green meadows. Now the world has become too noisy--so they prefer to dwell in a world of their own, in a land which is called the Shire.

Though small, they are tough and stout. In days of peace and ease, they live in their own way, which is a merry one.

At no time had Hobbits been warlike, and they had never fought among themselves. They are, perhaps, so unwearyingly fond of good things not least because they could do without them in times of grief, in a way that astonished those who looked no further than their well-fed faces.

Now Hobbits are getting ready for a celebration. Bilbo Baggins is going to be 111 years old. Yes, that's right--111 years!

Hobbits lived long, But Bilbo in his age looked more like 50. When spirit is free of greed and malice, the body stays young for a long time.

My large orange cat son, Oscar, and his smaller fluffy tortie cat wife, Almond, lie on top of my navy floral comforter which is on top of me in a glorious morning cuddle pile.

Finally, card 6: green. Yellow letters in slanted cursive spell "move." There are purple asterisks drawn in a few places. Above "move" I've written "stretch • walk"; below, "body work."

It is an image of a yellow card, slightly smaller than an index card. I've written "sleep" in cursive in black sharpie and tried to make the downstrokes of the letters bolder. There is a dotted underline under the word. Underneath the dots, on the left, I've written in black pen: "too much? too little? just right?" and on the right, I've written, "are you tired?"

In the bottom center of the card, I've taped a small square of a different white index card. On that card, I've used mechanical pencil to draw a bear with a nightcap on and his eyes closed. The drawing is somewhat messy because of much, much erasing and re-drawing.

Below the card is another small square of a white index card with a bear drawn on it, but I had outlined this bear with several different colors of Sharpie, which made him look weird. Also the Sharpie bear has enormous ears but I love them.

A lot of Linux developers are too young or arrogant to understand the unix motto: 'worst is best' (In french we say 'The better is the enemy of the good'). This is why, although an old male, I stayed away from the 'better' solutions like Kodi.

I just use a plain Linux distribution (Debian) as my media server. Worked well for 26 years. Enlarge the fonts, use a nice small keyboard (*), add some TNT cards... The browser is your Kodi.

Keep it simple and away from the fad of the day.
