the book is a short meta-commentary on how, in the Latin West, biblical commentaries and history grew entangled from the start and how modern historiography has blinded us to this -- trapping 20th/ 21st c scholars in a 19th-c paradigm that actually obscures the Middle Ages 2/3
Sigh. I gotta get a card for an academic library. And, the illumination on the cover is brilliant. Love it.
