A kingmaker is someone who can win the Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, and Ohio Senate seats, says Rep. Jim Himes, the ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee.

All this "kingmaker" talk is something only pundit class is obsessed with. Democratic voters want candidates who believe government should exist to make citizens lives better. Current corporate Dems focus more on donors in order to cling to power. We want fighters not triangulators.

That would be a functioning party. No kings!

Centrism only functions when an empire is on the ascent, as the “Status Quo” benefits the majority… once an empire is in decline Centrism quickly becomes a gatekeeper, protecting a Status Quo that is benefiting them at the expense of the majority. Systems fail and the inevitable conflicts begin.

He was a banker for Goldman Sachs. A corporate dem. Probably would be against jail time for the fraudsters during the Great Recession.

Is Mamdani a kingmaker, or is the rise of these socialist candidates a backlash against the Democratic establishment for not meeting the moment, and the base looking for something different?

You're both right. Sadly. I want nothing more than to be proven wrong. 😔 bsky.app/profile/dumm...

He’s right.

It’s not about Mamdani. It’s about the movement he’s a part of. For my entire adult life we left of the corporate center of the Democratic Party have been told to suck it up and vote blue no matter who. Now we have options and we are winning. This is just the beginning.

Jim Himes is one of the smartest and most impressive members of the House. I hope he runs on a bigger stage some day.

Himes is not a kingmaker either…ya’ll just keep defending the status quo What about we try the @mayor.nyc.gov style of politics on those place he cites

I predict that Chuck Schumer will lose his senate seat to AOC in November 2028 and there is a good chance that Hakeem Jeffries will not get the leadership position next January... The Democrats need to fight like hell and neither of these two men show much spine.

Loved the podcast. Rep Hineshelps me believe there is still Hope in congress.

Please Scott, it’s mom+don+knee. Getting the name wrong sounds so Boomer.

Establisnment Dems like Himes have no answers themselves, but insist that they should stay in control despite always fucking losing.
