Kia ora. I'm a 55 year old straight Kiwi bloke. I'm married with two children. This is the first time I’ve made a submission. The reason I’m doing so is because there’s something going wrong with what it means to be a New Zealander. I thought we were all about being fair, open, live and let live. This has been changing under the current government. The thing that really bothers me is that the National Party is supporting all this stuff. First it was all the anti-Māori stuff. Then it was stripping women of their right to have equal pay. Then you’ve got the overt racism against our Indian community. My friends that run the local dairy! This isn’t who we are. It’s certainly not what I thought National was about. Now, National is buying into this stupid war on woke nonsense and nodding along while other parties are singling out yet another group of people in our country, our transgender brothers and sisters. I always thought that National wasn’t about what we have in our undies, who we love or where we go to the toilet. But here we are. What’s going on? This isn’t the party of John Key and Bill English. The election is coming up and my vote is now up for grabs. Sort yourselves out. Stop picking on folks just because it you think you have to go along with it or your think there’s votes in it. Leave Māori, women, Indians and our Trans brothers and sisters alone. This isn’t who we are. I recommend that you get a grip of yourselves and reject this ridiculous Bill.
