Some shit I keep in my car or backpack now when I’m on the go: 1. Whistle (to alert people: three short whistles followed by a short pause indicates presence, long extended whistles indicates kidnapping in progress) 2. Megaphone (to alert people: “ICE is here/la migra esta aqui” and to amplify voice) 3. Diagonal cutting pliers (to cut valve stems on tires) 4. Center punch (to break car windows) 5. Bolt cutters (18 inch fits in a backpack, 30 inch kept in the car: for chains, chain link fences, padlocks and handcuffs) 6. Full face respirator/gas mask with filters (to stay in the game when the tear gas/pepper balls come out) 7. Bike helmet (to protect head) 8. Umbrella (to shield from projectiles: classic/straight is better than compact/folding but both are not impenetrable) 9. A wide, open mouth container filled with 3 tablespoons of both baking soda and dish soap for every liter of water. Submerge tear gas canister to render it no longer harmful
