Pro-Housing Pittsburgh applauds today's decision by City Council to allow transit-oriented development to move forward at the former Donny's Place site in Polish Hill. Historic nominations should never occur without the consent of the property owner. We urge Council to forbid such nominations from ever occurring in the future.

Pro-Housing Pittsburgh and College Democrats Announce 2025 Candidate Forum on Housing Pittsburgh, PA: On Thursday, April 17th, Pro-Housing Pittsburgh and CMU Democrats, Pitt Law Dems, and College Dems at Pitt will host a Candidate Forum on Housing. This forum will be held at the University of Pittsburgh and is open to all members of the public interested in hearing from local candidates about housing issues ahead of the May 20th municipal primary. Housing is widely seen as a top issue in this year’s mayoral primary election, according to recent reporting from Axios Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh has experienced some of the largest increases in housing costs nationally, according to a 2024 report from Redfin. Housing policy is determined at the city level of government, with individual members of City Council and local neighborhood groups often having the greatest influence over what development is allowed or forbidden in their district.
