If you or someone you love is on psych meds: Drink water before you’re thirsty; Avoid direct sun during peak hours; Seek shade, AC, cooling centers, or even just wet towels/fans; Check in on others who might not know they’re at risk; If you’re tapering or coming off meds, do so with care & support; Mutual aid saves lives. Systems don’t.

The state should never be in charge of determining who is autistic or not, who is Mad or not, who "really needs" meds or not. These are the people's tools that have been held hostage by the institution of psychiatry. The psychiatric carceral state holds our people's healing tools hostage. Gatekept and barred behind insurance and instittuional education and licensure and carceral / colonial ideologies and practices meant to disempower us from taking action in our own communities, politically identifying as an oppressed group, and recognizing the root of our distress and suffering.
The problem is not inherently the pills - the problem is whose pills the hands are in, the force, the lack of options, the lack of consent, the experimentation, the lies and narrative myths of chemical imbalances that have sought to biologize and pathologize our experiences as Mad and Disabled and neurodivergent people and psych survivors and people experiencing oppression, colonial and imperial violence, and social discrimination.
Two things can be true at once: 1) The government should never be in control of our access to any medications, including psychiatric medications. 2) Psychiatric medications have damaged and harmed many people in devastating ways. That is not a conspiracy theory from the government. That is our reality as psychiatric survivors.
