Given all that has happened with the warehouse initiative this spring, it's fascinating to revisit this ICE statement from early March, where they admitted the purpose of these facilities and alluded to rigorous due diligence. We also stopped seeing these economic impact figures soon after, too.

Contrast that March message with this email yesterday. It's not the most scandalous or damning communication, but it does demonstrate that multiple steps were missed from the outset — and indicative of the sort of bureaucratic battles that are winning the warehouse fights across the country.

They have not one iota of intention to be regulated by anyone. They never really did. It never made ANY sense to warehouse undocumented immigrants.
