Michelle Trachtenberg was the Buffy cast member closest in age to both of us, and as such, she has a special place in our hearts. Her role was thankless: not only was she the annoying kid sister, but she joined the show midway through its run in a supernatural plot twist that wasn't popular with everyone. As a result, Michelle's portrayal of Dawn often received more criticism than acclaim. Dawn wasn't a badass fighter or powerful witch, and this meant for some that she was extraneous or less important. On the contrary. While Buffy as a show wasn't always successful in its feminism, it consistently reminded us that you don't need to be physically strong to be powerful. We hope in the years to come that the fandom continues to reevaluate Dawn's character and Michelle's performance and that our own rewatch contributes lin some small way. Michelle's untimely death is tragic. We join the rest of the Buffy and Gossip Girl fandoms in expressing our deepest sympathies for her family and friends. Rest in peace.

"Man, you know I was crazy about her, and I was wearing her down, too." The jury is still out on Doyle! We can't pretend that some of the things he's said towards or about Cordelia aren't "Xander" coded, yet we know so little about him besides his *mysterious* background, the PTB visions, and he's a source for the writers to use all their Irish stereotypes on. Hopefully a backstory episode for Doyle is coming soon because having more context will make it easier to critique him for the next four and half whole seasons that we have with him.
"This guy could go to jail tomorrow, Angel, and still kill her in her dreams every night. I've put a few of these creeps away and the hardest thing is to know that he is still winning. She's still afraid. He took her power away and no one can get it back for her but her." This was such a real moment and we like that Kate said it with such sensitivity and understanding. We're still on the fence about her but this is a good attempt at helping us board the Kate train.
We love a doctor who's ready to sell out her creepy-ass, undeserving male colleague. #timesup

Meet the Side Characters Kate is a young, skeptical detective for the Los Angeles Police Department who is unaware of the supernatural. She meets Angel while working a case and Angel offers his investigating expertise to her whenever she needs them. Will Kate become the "Joyce" of the series and take far too long to notice the supernatural occurrences around her? Time will tell. Kate Lockley

[Angel in costume] If there's anything we should know about Angel on his own show, it's that he cannot resist a chance to get into character and wear a costume.
[A white man in a suit.] Russell is an analogy to the real-life Weinsteins, Trumps, Gaetzs & Epsteins who exist in this echelon of society and use their money, influence & connections to attract and abuse young, beautiful women. What these predators do is an open secret, but their power, privilege & gender are protecting them from the consequences of their actions. If we cancel one, another one takes his place and it keeps happening against & again because we do nothing about it. Until we change the way our patriarchal, white supremacist society is structured, this problem will never go away.
[Cordelia making a "grr" face.] There's our precious Cordelia! We are reintroduced to her broke and alone in LA, and it makes sense to set her on her own redemption journey alongside Angel's. We're ready for the show to break down her character only to build her back up into the hero we know she is. Let the growth begin!

Allen Francis Doyle is Angel's link to the Powers That Be in the form of painful visions of people for Angel to save. A founding member of "Angel Investigations," Doyle becomes a close advisor and friend to Angel while developing affection for Cordelia. Half-human and half-Brachen demon, his hybrid heritage isn't the only secret that he keeps hidden.

Meet the Employees of Angel Investigations. Once the richest and most popular girl in Sunnydale, the now poor and desperate Cordelia moves to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. After being rescued by Angel following an unfortunate Hollywood encounter, she creates an opportunity for herself by convincing Angel to turn his fight against evil into a business. Cordelia names herself the office manager of "Angel Investigations" but it's only temporary until she inevitably becomes famous.
