Americans are more likely to say they would prefer “the U.S. to be a reliable neighbor that cooperates with other nations and only uses military force as a last resort” than “the U.S. to be known as a mighty nation that does not hesitate to use military force to defend our interests” (70% vs. 27%).

More Americans hold favorable views of Pope Leo XIV than Trump (56% vs. 34%). 75% of white Catholics hold favorable views of Pope Leo, and 46% hold favorable views of Trump. Latino Catholics are more than 40 points more likely to hold favorable views of Pope Leo (64%) than Trump (23%).
