Passion for the Outdoors and Community Service Jen is passionate about the environment. She is an avid canoe tripper and whitewater paddler, serving as a longtime board member for the Wanapitei Youth Camp. Her care for community and the environment reflects dedication to a better future for all.
Stepping into Politics In 2022, recognizing the need for strong representation, Jen entered the political arena as the Ontario NDP candidate for Ptbo–Kawartha. Although new to politics, her extensive experience in labour activism and equity issues equipped her to address the community's needs.
For 20+ years, Jen has been an elementary school teacher within the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board. Since 2017, she has served as the President and Chief Negotiator for the KPR Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario Occasional Teachers' Local.
Jen Deck has called Ptbo home for over three decades, arriving in 1992 to attend Trent University, where she studied biology and women's studies. Balancing her studies with young motherhood, she completed her degree over an extended period, demonstrating resilience and commitment.
