One issue with the technology is that buses must arrive at a stop at the right time for the ticket system to be validated. This will not improve with live tracking and the bus must arrive at the scheduled time. "Buses will rely on the scheduled timetable, and that's what the system is built around, buses being in a certain place at a certain time. We know that our buses can get stuck in traffic. They can get held up at certain locations. The real-time information is just to make sure our customers know exactly where they need to be," Mr McHugh said. Some buses' timetables were being activated too early.
