2025 Writing - Year in review This was in some ways as monumental of a writing year as 2023 was (for context, in 2023 I wrote two first drafts). Out of nine writing goals, I accomplished six, plus a bonus one I hadn't intended on. Most were focused on Copper Frames, my current main WIP/manuscript that I'm intending to query when it's ready. I finished outlining the new plot, and finished the first and second drafts by the beginning of December. I wrote a brand new short story, and made modifications to one I wrote last year. I submitted both to a handful of magazines, plus I submitted one of my older stories around a bit too. I wrote and shared a Stardew Valley fan fiction, finished my biweekly release of my first manuscript The Quiet Forest, and began the first draft of the AU beach episode spin-off of TQF called The Quiet Beach. 2026 Goals I want to maintain my focus on Copper Frames, and my goals for next year might be even more ambitious than this year's. By the end of the year, I'd like to be done two more rounds of edits and enlisting a handful of beta readers for feedback. On the short story side, I'd like to finish submitting Monster Flick, my fucked up deer horror story, to magazines. Plus, I have some ideas to improve All You Hear Is My Voice, which is heavily limited by its original word count (the magazine that bought it had a maximum of only 1,200 words).

"Why would she risk such a dangerous profession? Can’t someone else do it?" Not really! Only a hundred-ish people in her village. Most are war veterans and injured. The few people they can spare are done so when only absolutely necessary. Unfortunately it’s absolutely necessary. The village has no metalworkers, no resources besides just enough food, wood, and fibre, and humans are encroaching on their territory. It’s an all-around bad time for Runnicka’s village. Fortunately she’s eager to learn to be a ranger!
