"You should stop taking venera. It's not good for you." Venera. A memory of a little green flower with outer pink petals came to mind. They blossomed in clusters on a shrub, and Liora’s family sometimes used them in certain drugs. What those drugs were, Seraphine couldn’t conjure at the moment. She didn’t know why Kyra assumed she had taken some either.
"Mine, mine, mine," the voice in her mind sang as she dug her heels into his back, trapping him against her.
Seraphine collapsed into the front pew, her vision swimming. The golden beams streaming through the stained glass warmed the flagstones and blurred with the candlelight. A feminine figure clad in a crimson cloak so dark it could have been black swished into Seraphine’s periphery. The figure paused, looking up at a tapestry of Thalor’s likeness in the niche beside the pew Seraphine had collapsed in. Then her hood slid an inch, revealing a delicate jawline and creamy skin, wisps of black hair curling around her chin. Beautiful… The corner of the beguiling woman’s red mouth lifted. Perhaps she had read Seraphine’s mind, or perhaps Seraphine had whispered her thoughts aloud in her near-unconscious state.
