We thought it would be a good location to meet you.” The boy walked towards the computer chair by the table next to the bed. “May we?” “Yes, just…” he sat in the bed, “I have so many questions. Where am I in the real world? Did you fix my Guardian? Where is Liu? And… who are you?” The boy adjusted the chair to match his proportions and laid the notebook on the table. “In the Prime world,” he said, “you are in the secondary Ulaanbaatar ALARES complex that was spared of the Commissar attack. You are directly connected to its cradle mainframe. Liu is currently in its residential part, eating a warm vegetarian rice meal and drinking orange juice. We are all safe for the time being. The complex is well hidden underground and defended by our people.”

He was familiar with the Commissars’ line of thought. He grew up in a city, in what they would call a ‘Singularite’ family. His parents firmly believed that Sequence was humanity’s savior, an artificial intelligence that came to life just in time to save people from their ignorance and greed, before they managed to destroy the planet they lived on. They were the ones who warned him of the aggressive rhetoric the Commissars used, often to recruit new followers from the ranks of believers of the old world religions. He always thought that a Buddhist monk could not fall for that, but, as he saw, everything was possible. “The more sinister option is,” the man continued, “well… I will let you think about it yourself. How did it act since its arrival in our world?” he asked, barely leaving any time before providing an answer: “It had lied and tempted, it had started a cult! It let people worship it, and used false promises to sway them away from the true faith! It tore apart whole families! Have we not seen warnings of beings like this before?” his voice boomed. “Have not all the holy books and prophets warned us to look out for creatures like this!”
