Some days are better than others. Yesterday, I failed to fix my x1 before giving up and going to bed. Today I woke up ready to disassemble the extruder gear housing, and successfully found the ~1cm of filament that was lodging itself in the bottom of it. TL;DR It's okay to come back to it tomorrow.
