My cat Stanley is sleeping in his favorite corner of my computer room. I have a condition that flares up unexpectedly on very infrequent occasions. One evening I'm sitting at the computer desk. I had a surprise flare up. So I closed my eyes & quietly folded my arms to rest my head on the desk. I've not made a sound. After about a minute I feel his puffy fur against my arm. He lays down and won't move until he knows I'm ok. I was silent. He was sleeping. Across the room. But he obviously wanted to offer comfort. That was special. He's my favorite guy in the whole wide world.
