My name is ______, and I'm calling to say that I'm opposed to Bill 29 which allows private diagnostic tests without referrals from a doctor. This bill does not provide actual support to our public healthcare that all Albertans pay for with our taxes. It instead creates a system that primarily benefits private companies. The promised reduction of wait times for the public queue will not happen with this system. Albertans deserve a properly funded public healthcare, not a divided system that preys on desperate Albertans. Thank you.
My name is _____, and I'm calling to say that I'm opposed to Bill 23. It prohibits citizen initatives for two years of a regular term, repeals deadlines for governments to address successful petitions, allows biased lawyers to access personal information that Elections Alberta has a duty to protect, and changes the rules of disclosing severance packages for high-earning public sector workers, including eliminating the need to publish severance agreements for former public sector workers. Mickey Amery claims the government will ensure our democracy is one of trust and openness, but this bill erodes our rights while erasing transparency from the government. Vote no on Bill 23. Thank you.
Good day: Thank you for writing to me about the fall referendum on immigration and constitutional reform. I appreciate hearing your views. Alberta has long enjoyed a strong economy and a high quality of life unsurpassed anywhere. Our prosperity, and the policies that enable it, attract people from across the country and around the world who make valuable contributions to our communities. Welcoming newcomers has been a part of our story from the very beginning; however, the immigration policies of the federal government over the last five years have put tremendous pressure on our classrooms, emergency rooms and social support systems. Unsustainable immigration combined with unstable oil prices are driving untenable budget deficits – not just here but across the country. According to Statistics Canada, last fall Alberta had an estimated 281,857 non-permanent residents. That’s more than the combined populations of Lethbridge, Red Deer and Spruce Grove – and it’s costing Albertans an estimated $2.6 billion a year. It’s no surprise that through the Alberta Next Panel, one issue most often raised by participants was the pace of immigration and its impact on our ability to provide the services Albertans rely on. We also heard that Albertans have other legitimate grievances with the federal government, and that they would like to see areas of provincial jurisdiction respected so our province has more opportunity to leverage its strengths and make life better for Albertans.

If I sign the petition, wlill my personal information be made public? The Recall Act requires petition documents be made available for public inspection for one year from the time it is filed or submitted. This applies to notices of intent, applications, and CFO documentation. Residential address and contact information (phone or email) must be obscured from public inspection. Individuals who ask to view copies of citizen initiative documentation are required to sign a declaration stating the information viewed will not be used except as permitted under the Recall Act. Important: This does NOT include petition signature sheets. Signature sheets will not be made available for viewing, publishing, copying, or made otherwise available to anyone. Only the petition proponent and their team and Elections Alberta staff may view the signature sheets for the purposes outlined in the Act. (Recall Act section 45(3)). This means no one else will be able to see the names, contact information, or signatures of anyone signing a petition.
