becoming 2026 It’s New Year’s Eve after 11 and I want to want to do something amazing? festive? interesting? profound? But this last year‘s been relentless. It could’ve been worse and I’m grateful it wasn’t, and yet - I just want to hibernate. And soon it will be midnight. And I will be here holding the dark in my heart while the bells ring and the confetti drops elsewhere. My heart heavy like a sponge full of the blood mopped up from the people we lost cold as the rain that is keeping the fireworks at bay. Here we are, ready to spruce up time calling it new like it’s not just yesterday with a fresh coat of paint. But here’s hoping here we are, hoping for a Happy New Year.

Naw. This is a private security escort for whatever contractor is leaning on the back of the service truck with the gate down. This company does also have security contracts with the federal government in addition to many other organizations.
