Homeschooled children aren't learning math, literature, or science
Around 2 million children are being homeschooled in the US. Many homeschooled children come from families who want to give them a quality education in a safe, loving home. But that's not the case for every homeschooled child. Some homeschooled children grow up in families that exploit lax homeschool laws to isolate, neglect, and abuse them.

Countless children have paid a steep price for these policy failures. Trinity Love Jones died after being ab*sed and neglected by her mother and her mother’s boyfriend. Her mother was a convicted s*x offender and the boyfriend a convicted child ab*ser when they started to homeschool her. G. Hickman was physically ab*sed by his homeschooling mother. Prior to this abuse, both of G’s parents had served six years in prison for the death of one of their other children.

I am a Utah resident and I am calling to urge the senator to vote NO on HB 0209. HB 0209 would allow convicted child abusers to homeschool children. If a person has been convicted of a crime that would prevent them from teaching in a school, then they shouldn’t be allowed to homeschool, either. HB 0209 would put countless children in danger. Please tell the senator to vote NO on HB 0209.
