Finally figured out how to get glitch free 240p <-> 480i (and 288p <-> 576i) transitions without adding lag or fake blanking the image!! In this mode, the RT4K syncs and scans the fields exactly the same way as a CRT. Perfect for mastering 240p Test Suite.

This also mostly works for HDMI sources like MiSTer or Analogue - but functions that dynamically affect image scaling like DV1 need to be disabled.
