You're right-on about this. *What I find so baffling is that so many Republicans and right-wingers in general are deeply into hunting and fishing and all outdoorsy things, and yet they have a white-hot hostility toward anything ecology-centric. I think it's pure anti-hippyism, pure tribalism. *
