At the heart of the era is Jo Grant. a companion often dismissed as a ditzy idiot who asks the Doctor an awful lot of silly questions. It's a painfully inaccurate assessment of one of the most well-developed companion arcs in classic Who. Jo possesses quiet strength, an indefatigable moral centre, and the ability to have everyone else underestimate her as she navigates patriarchy and paternalism.
