why isn't Tom Dundon paying for his part of the renovations? Seattle Climate Pledge is city-owned and the private operator paid $1.12B and the public paid nothing. Why? Because they actually put out a competitive bid, instead Portland is waiving the white flag before ever negotiating. Portland Trail Blazers @ the Rose Quarter can you tell us why Dundon thinks he shouldn't pay anything when so many other publicly owned arenas got much more private contributions?

How long will it take to pay back using just the Blazers-generated tax money? For the State Bonds only ($365M): ~32 years. For the $600M renovation: ~53 years. For the full commitment (State+City+County): ~94 years.
Fifteen Blazers player paychecks are nearly half the “$631 million economic impact." $145M/yr — and the study doubles it with its own 2.02× multiplier to $292M on the theory those salaries recirculate through Portland like ordinary wages. Half of that impact never circulates in the economy.
