Good read. I am constantly mocked by my musical friends for using soft synths. even though I am very happy with my set up it makes me second guess myself. I then spend time wondering how I could get more more synthage on my limited desktop space. then I end up on the youtube review merry go round.

Great read. I'm presently having some success ruthlessly parting ways with machines I love, but which don't work for me anymore (for many reasons). It helps. As you say, anything inessential will erode focus. All our choice can become overwhelming

It seems like everything you do could be done just with Ableton, but you have more fun kicking things off with your hardware. Maybe it's ok to take the less efficient approach simply because it's more enjoyable and sparks more creativity.
