CW: Suicide I haven’t been doing very well recently. Though I might present myself as energetic and jovial when I’m with friends and good company, my private life is far from stable. As a way to cope with my emotions, I try to put forth a loving and dorky personality so others don’t get absorbed in my depression. I’ve been unemployed for closer to two years now. After sending literally hundreds of applications, I thought I’d have a job by now. The career I’ve established is working as an office manager. When I left the military three years ago, I found a job within my skill set without much hassle. The job was a perfect fit for me. Great benefits, easy work, the staff and boss are all wonderful people, and I got a three day weekend every other week. Life was good. But… I wasn’t happy, oddly. Little did I realize, the military had a greater impact on my mental health than I had fathomed. This led me to being laid off for my poor performance.
