Most provinces saw upticks in 2020/21, then precipitous declines after that. In AB & SK, per-capita consumption is down 2.3L of pure alcohol from each province's peak. 馃嵑That's 130 fewer beers, per person, per year!馃嵑

Doug Ford is doing his best to change that.
I think this needs to be disaggregated to see if there鈥檚 an actual decrease in consumption of alcohol per person in the drinking cohort or an increase in the n of the cohort that doesn鈥檛 drink.
Are we seeing a correlation with reduced DUI? Or are those who are still drinking the ones doing all the impaired driving?
Mine fell 100% in Feb of 1992 and has stayed that way since. In other news, my skin is no longer yellow. Not for a while.
I blame young people They're smarter than we were and therefore drink less

Do the consistent sharp drops coicende with covid-lockdowns? I'm not sure that the cost is the only cause here. One could also plot median beer/wine costs in bars/liquor stores across time to see as well but I doubt it explains everything here. My hypothesis is that covid broke social drinking.
