But it would be a good abbreviation for 'English Language', wouldn't it? It could be used in publishing blurb like 'Here is a new EngLang version of Kafka's "Metamorphosis"', don't you think? I am actually quite pleased to see this one.
Oopsie. As one who wrote a correction or two when I worked in newspapers, it's quite humbling, but also mandatory. Off with 'is head!
Is this saying "angling" comes from the fishing hook being an "angle", or a thing that is "angled" ... ?
Typographer here. I suspect I know how this happened. The terminals of the capital G have a steep verticality and tight spacing. The metal slug for that character might have been mixed into the capital D drawer by a harried typesetter. Then that plate was sent down without anyone noticing.
