Perhaps they aren’t the most ambitious or innovative titles on the planet, but they execute upon a novel idea or concept well enough to keep them front of mind. The positives outweigh the negatives with relatively few of the latter.

There is more to the partnership than monthly comics. Following the debut of the all-new Archie No. 1, Oni will also work on releasing a wave of brand-new collections giving all eras of Archie’s history a showcase via a variety of formats, including compact digest editions, deluxe hardcovers and omnibi, and comprehensive box sets. The goal is to highlight work by original creators John L. Goldwater, Bob Montana and Vic Bloom, as well as names ranging from Dan DeCarlo, Veronica Fish, Francesco Francavilla to Stan Goldberg, Tom King and Paul Kupperberg, among others. In 2027, the line will expand further with the debut of an all-new line of middle grade and young adult graphic novels, all set in their own, accessible continuity outside of the core Oni publishing line. The plane is to have creative teams made up of acclaimed and recognizable talents.
But streaming services and digital purchases are ephemeral, intangible in a way that discs are not. I'm not foolish enough to believe that my DVDs are going to last forever. Rationally, I know they're susceptible to disc rot, but this is outweighed by my distrust of Netflix and its peers. That's especially true when it comes to animation, which as a medium seems poorly supported at the best of times and first on the chopping block at the worst. For every example like the flashy Arcane home video release, there's a Voltron: Legendary Defender that still to this day hasn't had its final seasons release physically, despite being removed from Netflix.

I'd even settle for VC3 finally getting an English release! OK, I've said my piece and gotten it out of my system.
This context is necessary to fully understand what I mean when I say, "I cannot believe that this even exists at all." I can't! I simply can't, for all of the aforementioned reasons, believe that Another Code: Recollection exists at all. I'm hesitant to hang any sort of grand meaning on its existence, though I would surely love to see Hotel Dusk and its sequel get the same treatment, but it feels like a wonder to have been able to go pick up a physical copy – the only one in the store, admittedly – at my local Best Buy on release day.
