here was this dream factory, founded to become the walt disney of the east. in 1911, french animation films by émile cohl, which had just been shown in a theater in the asakawa district, had made a strong impression on the japanese audience. some people were inspired to do the same and these "pioneers," who had been giving their all for years, now found themselves working with us, i.e. young "buds" about to bloom. maybe i'm overstating things a bit, but we were overcome with happiness.
