It will have a dominating effect on the vistas from several sites; that the Washington Monument from Arlington National Cemetery would be upstaged by it is unconscionable. The design itself is classless in the context of the beauty of white marble and trees that make up the visual language of the rest of our national heritage. As an expert in computer graphics and rendering I must point out that, as a technical matter, the renderings do not accurately reflect what would be the appearance of the final design in what are purported to otherwise be photographs. Simply put, they are artistic documents and shouldn't be used to evaluate visual impact. The renderings and impact statements understate the effect of sunlight glinting off a sixty-four foot tall golden statue in to the eyes of people all over the city, including critically drivers approaching from the west in the evening and from the east in the morning. Finally, although not relevant to the visual impact, the use of "One Nation Under God" as the text above the arch both rejects the historicity of "E Pluribus Unum" and likely violates aspects of the first amendment of the Constitution.”
