Email reading: I want to be clear: deepfake sexual abuse is violence. Canadians should be able to participate online without fear that their image will be misused or manipulated without consent, particularly women and young people. Platforms and AI developers have a responsibility to take reasonable steps to prevent this kind of harm. Our government is continuing to advance the responsible development and use of artificial intelligence in Canada. A key part of this work is Bill C-16, which would amend the Criminal Code to clarify that non-consensual deepfake intimate images are treated as intimate images for the purposes of the offence of publication without consent. This legislation would strengthen protections for victims and help ensure that those who misuse these technologies are held accountable. In addition, the government is working on new online harms legislation focused on improving platform safety and accountability, as well as updated data and privacy protections that would give Canadians more control over how their personal data is used in the digital environment. Technology companies and AI developers must take fully responsibily for the tools they create and ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to prevent harm. Our focus remains on protecting Canadians, enforcing the law, and ensuring digital technologies are used in a way that is safe and responsible. Thank you again for taking the time to write. Your concerns are important, and we remain committed to addressing online harms while supporting innovation that serves the public good.

If deep fake sexual abuse is violence by your own admission and the government doesn't take meaningful steps to prevent, it means you're complicit. X is not what Twitter once was. There is no utility, no salient, true updates, just a playground for the worst people on the planet. Leave it behind, like thousands of people with a moral centre already have. If you don't, you're on the side of the pedophile tech oligarchs and not women and children. Don't give me me some mealymouthed statement about legislation you're enacting if it doesn't pull X out, root and stem.

Email : Minister Solomon, Do the federal Liberals agree with the views of Charlie Kirk? If yes, that's news to me and I will be voting and volunteering differently going forward. If no, why did a significant chunk of the party stand and clap for him? Do you agree that he was a great man worthy of posthumous praise? Or is the party scared of retribution if you don't stand and clap? Or is it some secret third thing? Please don't say decorum. Sure, it's a time for both sides of the aisle to come together to try and reduce political violence. But standing and clapping reads as endorsement. It broadcasts that this man is worthy of a standing ovation, despite his encouragement of exactly the kind of political violence that eventually claimed him too. It is possible to condemn political violence without lionizing a man who spent his whole life denigrating huge chunks of the population, like women and queer people and racialized people, who now have to wonder if this government has our back.
