know I'm late to this and definitely not the first person to put these two images next to each other but it's one of my things to relentlessly point out that any expectation that The Washington Post should be profitable is completely arbitrary

Do I think WaPo should be permitted to endlessly bleed money? Not at all! Do I think the company is being held to unnecessary standards of profitability that they shouldn't be shackled with at the expense of the people working there? Yeah, probably!
