Regarding ACPS question about a tax rate increase- iirc the last tax increase the Council passed was tied to increasing teacher pay and the then School Board didn’t allocate all of the funds to that purpose. Mayor responded that only one council member has an appetite for an increase at this point.

Unable to crisply provide info on outcomes but they won’t be better without fully funding the budget request (characterized as a “cut” to the budget).

I appreciate the ACPS concern about lagging salaries for teachers last year but this reflects how ACPS chose to spend their budget resources last year. Budgets are the key reflection of priorities.

Finally, the City will enact the authority to appropriate funds to ACPS by expense classification instead of in one large bolus, starting with next year’s budget process.
