According to publisher testimony: 50% of all Big-5 published novels sell less than 12 copies 66% sell less than a 1000 98% sell less than 5000 copies. After a three-week trial, a jury found eight of nine protesters guilty of “providing material support to terrorists”, among other crimes. For the Sotos, this “material support” included owning a “printing press” used to print anarchist zines and being part of a leftist book club, the federal government argued. The couple had already left the scene by the time guns were drawn. All eight of the defendants sentenced so far have received unusually harsh sentences – 30 to 100 years – essentially life in prison.

Health update! When last I posted, I was in for two months of physical therapy to fix my crooked neck. It was long, and often painful, but I did it. My neck was fixed. But the symptoms I was trying to get rid of... got worse. Turns out, my neck was not the problem! It was just a fun bonus thing to fix. But the mystery symptoms were BAD. Everything hurt. Beyond just falling asleep constantly and losing motor control in my hands, for a while there I could barely walk. One day I was falling face first on the pavement trying to get on the bus. The next day I was struggling to get from the couch to the bathroom. I went to multiple versions of every kind of specialist in the city. Every clinic in Busan has my MRIs, X-rays, CTs, blood, urine, everything they can get. Since the symptoms were so broad, everyone thought it was the thing they specialize in, until they did all their tests and told me I was fine. One day I thought I was cured, the next I thought I had permanent disability. A wild ride. In the mean time, my mom and sister, who'd recently visited, kept telling me to go get tested for sleep apnea. I was like "I'm seeing too many doctors! I don't have time for all that, I have to solve this mystery illness!" Y'all... I'm pretty sure the mystery illness sleep apnea. Severe apnea is when you stop breathing 30 times per hour. I was at 63. That means that more than once per minute, I stopped breathing for 10-40 seconds. For decades, I was suffocating every single part of my body for 8 hours a night every night, and they all gave up at once. I'm doing so much better. It's still a long process to get used to the treatment and find one that works for me (our first attempt was a disaster) but now I'm on the road to feeling like a normal person again. (If only I'd listened to my family earlier)
