Dear Secretary / Skinnerburn Road Pigeons NOTICE TO QUIT TENANCY OF ALLOTMENT SITE KNOWN AS SKINNERBURN ROAD PIGEONS, SKINNERBURN ROAD, NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE, NE4 7AR (the Site). I write on behalf of Newcastle City Council, owner and landlord of the above Sile. Please find enclosed a Notice to Quit to terminate your tenancy of the Site on 30 November 2026 this Site now forms part of the Forth Yards Masterplan, a regeneration project being brought forward by Homes England working in partnership with Newcastle City Council, NorthEast Combined Authority and other public sector bodies. A funding package for the Masterplan has recently been approved by central government and therefore steps now need to be taken to secure vacant possession of the Site You are therefore required to deliver up vacant possession of the Site to the Council on or before the date stated in the Notice The Site should be left in a secure and tidy condition, and all birds, equipment, personal possessions and rubbish should be removed from the Site by this date together with any crops that plot holders wish to take with them. The Council does not intend to replace this Site with a new one and you/your members will need to make your own arrangements to rehouse your birds

HURST. A PATRIARCH INDEED.—On Wednesday last, the remains of Thomas Ballam, of Hope-street, were interred at St John's Church. The deceased was father to 15 children-six sons and nine daughters; 56 grand children, 66 great grand children, and one great great grand child. The deceased was much respected by all who knew him; and he had been a member of the Independent Order of Oadfellows, Manchester Unity, upwatds of 40 years.

NORTHERN HEATON 150 HISTORY TO THE TCC Heaton Train CareCentre is located about 2 miles east of the city centre of Newcastle upon Tyne, between the East Coast Main Line and the Tyneside Metro line to North Shields and Whitley Bay. It carries on a tradition going back 150 years since a motive power depot was established here in 1875 delivering excellent Safety, Quality of vehicle maintenance and Customer service through it's skitful and committed work force. As early as 1847 Heaton was set to develop into a railway centre of major importance. The Newcastle and North Shields Railway had been opened in 1839 and eight years later this was absorbed by the Newcastle and Berwick Railway, with a junction between the two lines at Heaton, and the area between the two lines was destined to be developed for a variety of railway uses, especially motive power provision. In 1875 a motive power depot for steam locomotives was built at Heaton, located in the apex of lines formed by the junction of the ECML and the Coast line. In 1950 the 8 road shed had an allocation of no less than 119 locomotives meeting local needs as well as freight and passengers services on the ECML. Heaton served as a steam depot until it was closed in June 1963, its remaining allocation being transferred to Gateshead depot. However, it was used for the storage and stabling of steam locomotives, more or less as a sub-shed of Gateshead, for another three years. northernraitway.co.uk Find your fun by train

Transport establish a national framework for Play Streets - including a formal definition of Play Streets, Street Play, and School Streets - to ensure that residents everywhere can easily open their street for play. This is already possible for some residents but for too many the process is too difficult, if not impossible.
PLANNING PERSPECTIVES 'The freedom of the place during daylight hours': urban renewal and the fight over play streets in Newcastle upon Tyne, c.1955-1980 Sally Watson School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape, Newcastle University, Newcastle upon Tyne, UK ABSTRACT Newcastle upon Tyne's 1960s planning policy included play streets as a short-term measure in neighbourhoods intended for long term urban renewal. The sia as on treate a tess for shiere of lay in are as that a ked ten environmental turn of the 1970s, this article examines the circumstances surrounding the implementation and adaptation of this policy, abandonment in 1974 and continuing resident activism following this. Based on municipal and government archives and local newspapers, it critically examines the moral landscape of play streets and the planning and traffic engineering policies and practices underpinning their governance. It shows that the demise of play streets was not due to a decrease in demand for them. Instead, a dominant 'car logic' contributed to constituting the child as out-of-place in the street. Factors including the transfer of play streets from planning to engineering, reductions in traffic management budgets following the 1973 oil crisis and a lack of national and regional government support would ultimately limit the possibilities they afforded. The article argues that ideas about the child and street play in this period cannot be divorced from evolving postwar planning and engineering policies and practices.
