Discovered that samwho.dev/rss.xml was 150kb and being fetched a _lot_. It also wasn鈥檛 gzipped 馃珷 Stripped it down, gzipped it, added caching headers. It鈥檚 now 1kb and my overall nginx bandwidth has been cut by about 80%.

Startup tip: never ever respect accept:gzip headers, more traffic looks better to investors.

Are you using etag/if-modified-since for it? That's usually the key

I did sacrifice lots of content inside rss.xml so readers won鈥檛 get any of the post content anymore. I know that鈥檚 not ideal, but most of my recent posts aren鈥檛 something your RSS reader is likely to be able to render anyway.
