They’re plugged into the outdoor sockets. I also noticed that the cables are so thick that the seal doesn’t close. Have contacted the folks who installed the aircon and they’re going to come back next week and see what they can do.

I don't know the regs at all but I'm sure they're meant to be hardwired through isolators not socketed. I've been looking at aircon and my problem has been getting a whole new circuit for it from the distributor board - and I have an outdoor socket where it could go already.

I’m not sure for certain but I reckon an aircon unit should probably go onto its own circuit. I can imagine it draws enough power to maybe hit the limit of the circuit. I’d need to know more about the aircon unit to be able to tell you for certain
