What this reminds me of is Takamatsu. JR Takamatsu Station is a terminal, that connects directly to the ferry terminal, which used to be the easiest way to get to the island of Shikoku Ferries aren't as relevant now that the Great Seto Bridge (1988) and Akashi Kaikyo Bridge (1998) exist
Sometimes there are still ferries which dock not too far from the Malmo C train station. Not as close as it used to be to the train station (and not as many) but walkable still if, for example, taking the Finnlines ferry to Swinoujscie (or perhaps even still a Nordo ferry to Germany).
