As he got closer, Maunat’s breath caught; his eyes were a dull greyish-brown, quite ordinary compared to Rossolay’s bizarre yellow, if still a bit uncommon to be found paired with such dark skin. This should have made his eyes less unsettling, but somehow instead they were worse. He looked like he’d passed through the black hole at the centre of the galaxy and now he should only be able to speak backwards. When Fiyeli stepped out from behind her, very deliberately took Evret’s hand in his, and blushed, Maunat felt a bit sick.
