Saying ai is a tool that only a tiny minority wants is just wrong. Many people want and do use AI tools, to answer emails or for other conveniencs. This of course is not good, but downplaying that people want to use or are being conditioned to use ai is not very helpful
But Sasha the plagiarism machines will magically solve global warming in the end because they'll become so much smarter than us! They definitely won't pass the intelligence threshold, consider the problem & go "... you really should've powered the transition to 100% renewables". That would be dumb

AI can be an amazing tool, but I don’t need it to answer emails to friends. We have unlocked the secrets of the atom, but that does not mean everyone needs a thermonuclear bomb. AI usage should be directed to critical applications. Anyone who uses it for everyday applications should pay for it.

These arent in conflict though. We can both power the transition to renewables and then use the plagerism machines on renewablw power to lessen electricity or water loss that costs more than the data centers themselves use
