While it is a minority share of lung cancers, lung cancer is the most common cancer by far, so EGFR+ lung cancers are a common cancer. Its annual deaths (~16k) are comparable to all bladder or kidney cancers.

Rough BOTEC: 125k annual lung cancer deaths * 85% of those are non small cell lung cancers * 15% of those are EGFR positive ≈ 15.9k
the only time I care about "rare" is when it means 15 other people in the world have it AND THEREFORE there's no treatment, cure, or even a damn facebook group
