You might not remember, but Andy Sylvester put together a proof of concept a few years ago (My Status Tool) and I made a version in PHP and they talked very nicely together. I even proposed an XML namespace to explicitly handle replying to posts.

It’s so funny. A friend and I did a prototype of a RSS based service called like-a-mail to kill email 2005. You were our inspiration back then when we built business applications on RSS.
