And the reasons for choosing a serif font (see svelte.dev/blog/the-omn...) seem very weak to me ("We want to be different" 🙄). I have just replaced two font variables with a CSS extension and it is so much better for me to read.

There is a toggle at the top right corner depicted as an A to change the font.
Here is a comparison (original font / sans-serif fonts). The adjusted version does not look beautiful, maybe some designers will cry tears, but I don't care, reading is much easier now. 🤷♂️
